I thought I would get a new baby doll for my birthday. By the looks of the hair on this doll, I think I need a new one!

Everyday Life

Hey guys,

I just wanted to give you a quote that i heard today that i really think we can all benefit from:

"Don't sweat the petty things and DON'T pet sweaty things!!"

Ode to Mom

How blessed we are to have you for a Mom! Words can not express how much your love means to all of us. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "All that I am, and all that I hope to be, I owe to my (angel) mother." We love you! Happy Mother's Day!

Somebody once said you can learn all you need to know about being a mom from a textbook.

That somebody never had a child stuff wheat puffs up their nose, or hold their breath and turn red.

Somebody once said that being a mom was boring.

That Somebody never rode in a 63 mustang to Peek's Motel with 5 kids and a husband.

Footnote: Vickie still has red carpet stains on her legs!

Somebody once said that the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery.

That somebody never held the hand of their child as they walked into the kindergarten classroom for the first time..... or watched as their child got in the car and drove to Texas, Seattle, or Oklahoma..... or drove to Mobile.... or watched her 'baby' get on a plane to go overseas.

Somebody said that you don't need an education to be a mom.

That somebody never sat at the kitchen table and helped their child with their homework.

footnote: Wallace says thanks!

Somebody said that having a successful professional career was more important than being a mom.

That somebody never held a sleeping baby.

Somebody said you can't love the 8th child as much as the 1st.

That somebody doesn't have 8 kids.

Somebody said a mom's job is done when the last child leaves the home.

That somebody doesn't have grandkids.

We love you!

Memories...

You know it is funny how memories work. I can't really tell you what my earliest memory is, and there are many memories that I am uncertain about... memories where I don't know if they are simply my imagination from a picture or a story. There are, however, many memories so clear and so obscure that I know they could not have come from any outside influence.... they are simply personal flashes of recollection that play for a second in my mind and then disappear as if the film ran out.

I was really young when Granddad and Nannie died, but I have some really distinct memories of them. These flashes are so real and tied to a split second of memory in my mind. Memories that a two year old would have... Memories like the texture of Nannie's hair...... or the smell of their house (To this day the smell of natural gas takes me back to their little house)... their front yard and the chairs on the front porch... flaking red paint on the front porch... Memories of sitting and playing on the massive air grate on the floor and how it hurt my hands and left a checkered pattern on them. I have distinct memories of Granddad holding me up to pick grapes and of looking down at Nannie's hands around me as she held me... and I have a distinct memory of eating a type of 'cheese-it' pack of crackers in the hospital. I wish that I had more.... but I am grateful for what I remember.... and I'm grateful that the memories are real and are mine.

Hey..... Did you know that I am famous? Yep.... Visit my other website to find out more....

Who is Who?

Yes, it is the same dad.... But who can correctly identify the babies? One is Brooke and the other is Bess? Gee, they sure look alike!
