The Truth Hurts.......
Ok girls, I had a moment this morning while i was getting ready to go work. Some will sympathize, others will not yet have a clue. But you will the older you get.... :-) I was trying to put my makeup on when i felt a stabbing between my eyebrows and realized that i had a white eyebrow hair. (Yes they turn gray too) Now when you get older and have your contacts in, you CANT see up close with out readers and if you have your readers on, they cover up where you need to pluck!! To make a long story short, it angered me and i wrote this poem on my way to work just to show some of you what you will have to look forward to when you turn 26....Let me know what you think :-)
Parody of Old
By Vickie
Where did they come from these wrinkles and spots?
Not to mention the whiskers that now grow a lot
Those white eyebrow hairs are the worst of their kind
Sticking up just like daggers that you can’t pluck when you’re blind
You will find even with contacts up close you can’t read
Don’t try and fight it because now its readers you need
You should keep two in your purse and a pair by your bed
Because often you will lose them on top of your head
Every time you look in the mirror you will find more hair that’s gray
They will stand up and wave after shampooing each day
Don’t believe the old adage that pulling one, two will grow in its place
You will find its not on your head, they show up on your face
Chins that have doubled along with our waist in its size
Your bottom will slide down to rest on your thighs
Hot flashes will happen and you will break out in a sweat
The ones in the night will leave your sheets soaking wet
Gone are the bras made of satin and lace
Industrial Cross Your Hearts now take their place
The wide straps are needed the older one grows
For raising the tata’s that now look down at our toes
Pretty panties we wore joined with strings on the side
Now we wear cotton and make sure they don’t ride
No more of the days of wearing tops without sleeves
Cause your arms have formed wings that will wave in the breeze
The older you get your bladder will drop to your knees
Quickly you learn to cross your legs when you sneeze
Not to mention how often you will get up in the night
Just to relieve your new urinary plight
Some find a way to age with style and with grace
Others will give in and let age set the pace
But with each passing day all joking aside
Much better than the alternative, so go along with the ride

Happy Halloween Continued !!
BOOOOO!!!!Well it's Halloween!!! I thought this picture best described my feelings on pumpkins!! SHOO NASSY!!
My early Halloween memories are shadowed by standing on the porches getting candy while smelling the candles in the pumpkins and not wanting to throw up!!! (for those that don't know, im allergic to pumpkin!!)
So what are some of your Halloween memories and what are all our little ghosts and goblins going to be tonight??
And Another...

Take a look at the picture that Mae found!!! This was taken up on Monte Sano. If you look close by Jason's legs you can see Jake. He probably crawled to the top like a spider and even though Joey was tiny he's still trying to climb with the big kids!! Dont you just love Wallace's flip flops? Didn't his momma ever tell him you can't climb with flops on???

Remember When?
I found this picture Monday night and just had to post it. Look at how small they all were....What happened?? Where has the time gone? I'm not sure where the other kids were but this was taken in November of 1994. On another note, I am very happy to post that Pris is at home now and doing better!! And just for the record, Dustin is wearing an ALABAMA shirt!!! ROLL TIDE!!!!

Mom Doesnt Know I'm Gonna Blow Out Her Candles..
These are some of the cutest pictures...check out Liz's expressions, aside from the finger up the nose, which I think was really just a way to try and throw her mom off, but as you can see it doesnt!! Look at Maes expression too!! She never missed a beat putting her hand over Liz's mouth!!! You know Liz was wanting to blow out those candles!!!! Thanks Mae. These are hilarious!!!!

We Do All Dat Luvin...

Hey Everyone,
Please keep Sherry in your thoughts today, she's had an awful bout with high blood pressure this past week and has an appointment with a cardiologist today. She's also had to go back on blood pressure medicine, I guess that's what happens when youre a geriatric mother.... :-) Or maybe it was the strain of doing the nursing for such a long time.....

GAP AD FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Hey everybody. Wallace told me about the family blog and this is my first official blog post ever.
This is a pic from the Bell and Jack's first day of school. I really tried to get the normal first day of school picture but the kids had something a little more "modern" in mind. I think Jack might have a modeling career ahead of him :)

Ok, Heres one for the boys... ;-)
Since Wallace felt left out and wanted his own poem, I gave it a whirl last night and came up with this one for BOTH the boys ( I couldnt leave Little Petey out too ).....
Our Boys
By Vickie Shaw
Can you guess which is which by the tidbits I tell?
Knowing you can cause we know them so well
One liked to tattle and touch his tongue to his nose
While the other carried a blanket and walked on his toes
One loved to tinker and take things apart
The other loved Star Wars and a Simpson named Bart
One always had socks hanging half off his feet
One if he bled, would pass out in his seat
One’s main thing to eat was peanut butter and jelly
The other would inhale food to fill up his belly
We turned ones GI Joe’s into Barbie’s ballerina
And got in trouble for calling the other, Wallamina
How they’ve turned out ok is a mystery yet
Cause we picked and we teased every chance we could get
But all kidding aside these words up above
I hope you both know this was written with love

I'm a poet and didnt know it.....
Okay people...I had entered an online poetry contest months ago, just on a whim at a friends request because she liked some stuff I've done for her before...well guess what? I actually won 2nd place!! Im still surprised because I don't do poetry and its kinda basic...Now you don't win anything except the recognition of saying you won, but hey, its better than nothing. So here it is:
Oh and Wallace and Pete, don't feel slighted, I'll make one up for you too ;-)
Sisters
By Vickie Shaw
Solid is the bond for which we all share
Each of us stronger in knowing it’s there
Always there when we need them no matter what time
Being a true voice of reason or partners in crime
Sharing feelings and memories, confessions and prayers
Each understanding completely the depths of our layers
Somehow knowing what’s needed without asking why
Whether only to listen, to laugh or to cry
They can tell us we’re stupid and selfish and wrong
Though we may not agree, we see before long
We talk of our secrets, our hopes and our dreams
The highs and the lows, the plans and the schemes
It doesn’t matter at all if they live close or live far
Just a phone call away brings them right where we are
Together we’ve forged our own chain of support
To help pick us back up if one should fall short
Ties that are closer than husbands or friends
Sisters are the ones that we can always depend
Even though we’re all different, one thing is the same
We are all proud to be from the family we came
