MeMe-Lou Who

Mallory's class recently performed the Grinch song during the First Grade program at her school. Mallory's teacher asked all of the girls to wear their hair like Cindy-Lou Who. It took quite a bit of time and effort to master this look, but it turned out great! Mallory had a speaking part during the program...and she did so well!

If you're interested in having this Who look during the holidays, just bring a Dixie cup and a bottle of hair gel to the family get-together on Saturday. MeMe and I will be happy to help you!

Well guess who's birthday it is and guess how old?? I do believe she is a whopping 52!! Shoo she's getting old..... Well we still do all dat luvin and send lots of daylove too!!!

For Veteran's Day our school has a fundraiser for PTSA. The students create posters for current, retired, or deceased military. It's a family project. Brandon's social studies teacher offered extra credit for the project. We had fun making this poster to honor Paul Taylor!

Happy Halloween!

Saturday was the official trick-or-treat day in Guntersville. We had so much fun! We ended up with 243 trick-or-treaters this year. The girls each ended up with a bag full of candy. The boys watched the Auburn game all night. Get ready...I'm gonna say it...WAR EAGLE!

Fire up the turkey...

I'm coming home for Thanksgiving! Dee and I are going to be in Boston for a couple of weeks (over thanksgiving), and I have gotten a good price on a ticket down to Alabama for a few days! Dee is going to stay in Boston and have T-day with her family (her parents are going to fly up to be with her). I'll be in H'ville from Monday to Saturday during the week of Thanksgiving! Oh... and sign me up to bring the black olives! I can't wait!!!!!

Our Front Door Project

The front door project that we started back in February was finally completed not too long ago...so I'm posting a pic. We love the new glass panels. They look so pretty compared to the crazy frosted glass that was there before.

Columbus Day Celebrity

Replicas of Columbus' ships (the Nina and Pinta) have been docked in Guntersville for the past week. MeMe went with her class to tour the ships...and then again with us on Sunday (along with Guickie and Paw Paw). MeMe has really enjoyed learning about Columbus. When we were touring the ships on Sunday, a reporter from The Huntsville Times interviewed her. A must see video...

The Menu Board

Three years ago I promised Don that when we moved to G'ville, I would start cooking dinner several nights a week. I told him that I wanted to get a menu board so that I could announce and answer the nightly question: "What are we having for dinner tonight?" It took me a long time, but I have finally bought a menu board for the kitchen. It's a hit! Don and the kids love it...and they often use it as a tool for self-expression.

In the craft village

So... I had something cool happen to me this past week.

In our village there is a small group of shops known as the craft village. It is a collection of small art galleries and craft stores. This is where I have been doing my pottery course the last few years. Well... We have become friends with most of the artists... and one of them (a painter) has asked if she could start selling my photos in her shop. So, Dee and I have worked hard this past week to pick some out and to matt them. I took them to her this morning, and when I went back this afternoon (Dee spent the afternoon in the studio painting) she had them up and ready to sell. She has put them up in the windows for the time being but hopes to get a rack or bookshelf to put them on.
