Replicas of Columbus' ships (the Nina and Pinta) have been docked in Guntersville for the past week. MeMe went with her class to tour the ships...and then again with us on Sunday (along with Guickie and Paw Paw). MeMe has really enjoyed learning about Columbus. When we were touring the ships on Sunday, a reporter from The Huntsville Times interviewed her. You can read the article on http://www.al.com/ by searching under "Replicas of Columbus' Ships Visit Guntersville for Columbus Day Holiday".

hey! that is really cool! I loved the article! how did Meem's know that the Nina was Columbus' favorite?
Someone must have told her.
The Nina made the entire First Voyage...and she brought Columbus safely home. The Nina also accompanied the grand fleet on the Second Voyage to Hispaniola. Columbus chose the Nina (out of 17 ships) for his flagship on an exploratory voyage to Cuba. The Nina was also part of Columbus' Third Voyage. She logged at least 25,000 miles under Columbus' command.
Wow!! That is fabulous and now her name is in print... :-)
wow.... did she tell you all of that??? amazing!
way to go meems!!!!
